Hannes Meiring - US Gallery
Opening on 10 June 2008, 18h30
Hannes Meiring, architect and painter exhibition opening by Andre P. Brink in the US Gallery, Stellenbosch.
Stepped out for a breath of fresh air. Couldn't could back in again.
Back inside after Andre P. Brink finished his speech. I don't know if he said anything profound. While I was inside I couldn't hear much. And most of what he said he said while I was outside, unable to get back in. Too many people to get a good look at the paintings or to get hold of any other information.
Managed to snap two paintings in the back room where there were less people.
A red mountain with a low cloud. Lots of glare on the big paintings because he paints them with enamel paint. Selling seemed brisk. From a quick view I think the smaller works had more focus and integrity than the big works. But I couldn't manage a snap of any of them on opening night.
